Hyderabad, November 29: Software engineer Pankaj, who pushed his girlfriend to death from an apartment at Kundanbagh, was not only infuriated that his ladylove refused to marry him but over her suggestion that he marry another woman and lead a happy life.
Pankaj, an employee of CSC at Raheja IT Park, pushed his girlfriend, Babli Garg (28), to death from the terrace of Sri Lakshmi Apartments on Thursday night. “It just happened on the spur of the moment,’’ Pankaj told the police.
Pankaj and Babli, also a techie, had been having an affair for two years.
Babli’s parents reportedly disapproved of her relationship with Pankaj and asked their daughter to stay off him.
“On Thursday, Pankaj went to Babli’s place and both of them went to the terrace to discuss the matter. Babli said that her parents would not approve of their relation and reportedly asked him to marry another girl and lead a happy life,’’ Punjagutta police sub-inspector MB Sridhar said.
Pankaj, however, said that he could not think of another girl in his life and said that he would rather stay unmarried.
“Babli reportedly insisted that Pankaj should lead his own life and threatened to jump from the terrace if he did not heed her words. In a fit of rage, Pankaj pushed the girl from the terrace leading to her death,’’ Sridhar said. Pankaj himself got Babli admitted to a hospital and later surrendered to the police. He also confessed to his `spur of moment’ act. Pankaj was arrested Saturday.
Police said Prakash’s parents had not turned up till now but his roommate was informed of his arrest. Pankaj resides at Brahmanwadi in Begumpet.
Babli’s body was flown to Delhi this morning. The body would be shifted to her native place, Yamuna Nagar, in Haryana.
