Mumbai, March 21: She has always picked up projects that have the right balance of class and mass but actress Priyanka Chopra says she never signs a film expecting to get an award.
Priyanka recently won her first National Award for her portrayal of a small town girl trying to make it big in the world of modelling in Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Fashion’.
She went on to surprise critics with her power-packed performance as a feisty Maharashtrian girl in Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Kaminey’ besides doing masala films like ‘What’s Your Rashee?’ and ‘Pyaar Impossible’.
“It has always been a conscious effort throughout my career to be versatile. I am fortunate enough to be enjoying films like Siddharth Anand’s ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ with Ranbir Kapoor on one hand and Vishalji’s (Bhardwaj) next on another. Thankfully, it’s all working out quite well,” says Priyanka.
The 27-year-old is playing the lead in Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Saat Khoon Maaf’, which is based on a story by Rushkin Bond. The actress will have a pick of leading actors opposite her as her character will marry seven men only to kill them one by one.
