Actor Rajpal Yadav, known for his comic performances in films like “Chup Chup ke”, “Hungama”, “Kal Ho Na Ho” and “Bhool Bhulaiya”, says he does not want to be typecast into just one kind of role.
Having shown versatility with films likes “Jungle”, “Main Meri Patni Aur Who” and “Bhopal: A Prayer for Rain”, Rajpal feels there is much more to him as an actor than just comedy.
“People come, call me comedian but I think I am an entertainer. I don’t like the tag of comedy. I think I have done all kind of roles – negative, serious and entertaining. I feel lucky to be accepted by audience,” Rajpal told PTI in an interview here.
The 44-year-old actor feels fortunate to have got the opportunity of playing interesting roles and working with talented actors.
“Today options are plenty for actors to choose interesting work. There is variety for everyone. I feel blessed to be here as I am getting to do films in various languages – Hindi, Punjabi, Kannada,” Rajpal said.
“I get bored easily. So I keep looking for interesting things. I am not in a hurry to do films. Whether the role or the film is big or small, doesn’t matter to me. It has to excite me,” he added.
The “Phir Hera Pheri” actor said he is quite excited about his next release “Baankey Ki Crazy Baraat” in which he plays the title role.
“It is a nice entertaining comedy film. It is a family film. It is about the general mentality of marriage. The content of the film is nice.. I can’t reveal much,” he said.
The film that also stars Sanjay Mishra, Tia Bajpai, Rakesh Bedi and others releases tomorrow.
At a time when Bollywood is churning quite a few adult comedies, Rajpal said he is not comfortable doing it and does not wants to be a part adult comedies.
