I confessed under threat: Ajmal Kasab

Mumbai, December 22: Ajmal Kasab, now the face of the 26/11 terror attack, did a volte face as the court recorded his statement on Tuesday. He went back on his confession and even refused to identify himself or the articles recovered from his person when arrested.

Ajmal Kasab, the lone surviving terrorist of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, today told the court that police forced him to confess before the magistrate in February this year.

Kasab – whose statement is being recorded by the special court – alleged that he gave his confession only because the crime branch had threatened to electrocute him if he did not comply.

Also, he said, “I did not tell the police anything about Kuber boat and the dead body found on the boat.” The terrorists had hijacked Kuber on their way to Mumbai.

“I have never seen Kuber boat; crime branch and FBI had showed me pictures of Kuber and my clothes and articles seized from the boat. These articles must belong to either fishermen or smugglers. The AK 47 rifle may belong to the police and it is not mine.”

An ID card recovered from his trouser pocket was shown to Kasab in the court today, but he refused to identify himself. “It’s not me. Trousers are not mine, I was wearing leather pants,” he stated.

He said the money seized from him was not his either.
