Hyderabad, November 22: Making it clear that he has never lobbied for the Chief Minister post, Chief Minister K Rosaiah has lamented that he is surrounded by a series of unexpected problems including communal violence and separate Telangana state agitation, immediately after he assumed power.
Addressing a mammoth congregation of Arya Vysya here yesterday, he said that he never indulged in lobbying for the Chief Minister post after the sad demise of Y S Rajasekhar Reddy in helicopter crash and reiterated that the Congress High Command with a confidence on him, made him Chief Minister.
”Since I assumed power, I am facing series of problems including unprecedented floods to the river Krishna which created havoc in several district, large scale communal violence in Hyderabad old city and agitation for separate Telangana state” he deplored and added that 85 per cent of Mandals in the state were facing drought when he assumed power.
He silenced his critics saying that though he participated in the Arya Vysya caste congregation, he would be Chief Minister for 8.5 crore people of the state and do justice to all, irrespective caste affiliation.
He assured Arya Vysya community to consider their demands and made it clear that though he is Chief Minister of the state, he would never be arrogant.
Mr Rosaiah also assured the Arya Vysya community that the government would not interfere in the affairs of temples and spiritual organizations being maintained by them as long as there are no irregularities.
He exhorted the Arya Vysya community to concentrate on education, instead of opting petty business and pointed out that a number of students, who belonged to Arya Vysya community, proved to be meritorious in the examinations.
The Chief Minister deplored the death of B Ramachandra Murthy, a delegate who came here from Nandyala and died of heart attack.
Large number of political leaders including MLAs, MLC, and MPs and business men of different political parties, belonged to Arya vysya community also spoke.
Chief Minister K Rosaiah too belongs to Arya Vysya community.
