New Delhi, June 04: HE DOESN’T need to take his shirt off for a woman — and many a man as well — to want to pounce upon him.
Koel too couldn’t resist herself when she had with her the delectable Salman Khan on the couch, which expanded into a luxurious red bed.
She writes in her blog on http:// blogs. intoday. in: “ Twenty minutes of a mellow yet mischievous Salman and I couldn’t resist. I did pounce, more for old time’s sake. My very first episode of the couch was with him and at the end of it I gave him the tightest hug because I too had grown up dreaming that I’d end up with him.” Outside the Delhi hotel where On The Couch With Koel was shot, Sallu Bhai’s legions of fans braved a lathi charge for a glimpse of the unpretentious star, who had actually caught a taxi from the airport, instead of insisting on a fancy chauffeur- driven car. It is this ability to connect with common folk that gives Salman such a superstar appeal.
As the Ready star puts it, “ I believe the way I speak, the whole country speaks.
The sense of humour I have at home, everybody must be having the same sense of humour. So I don’t think of myself to be anything apart from just a common man.
Just that I’m in the movie business and they are not.” Koel explains Salman’s
charisma thus: “ The fans don’t worship and revere him like they do the other two stalwarts.
Instead they think of him as one of them — a best buddy, a brother they never had or a leader of the gang they imagine themselves to be part of.” Add to that his perennial bachelor status, which keeps the girls hoping that one day he will be theirs.
Salman’s refreshing candour makes him that much more irresistible. Of the many reported love interests in his life, he says, “ pretty much all of them” have been his soulmates, and he takes responsibility for the relationships not working out. “ The guy not correct in the relationship perhaps would have been me. I am a kind of difficult guy to live with,” he says.
Many a female heart would melt with that admission.
What does he feel about romancing beauties half his age on screen? “ They all come in as grown women into the industry,” he says, pointing out that “ as long as you have not seen them grow up, it’s fine.” Besides, he reasons, if you are fit enough for action, you are fit enough to romance the young ones too. The young ones aren’t complaining. For, aren’t they living out their childhood fantasies by sharing screen space with the man whose posters once adorned their rooms?
