I am feeling free now: Amar Singh

New Delhi, January 07: Clearly peeved by the continuing criticism of him by Samajwadi Party leaders, a pensive Amar Singh on Thursday said that if the party feels that he is of no use, then he should be absolved of his duties as a party worker.

“Mujhe mukti dedo (give me freedom),”said Amar Singh when asked about the fingers being pointed on him regarding the decisions – joining hands with Kalyan Singh and the fielding of Dimple Yadav as party candidate for the Firozabad by-election -he took while he was the party’s man Friday.

“I feel free and light now,” he quipped.

Amar Singh’s comments was precipitated by party chief Mulayam Singh’s comment today that there are differences between Amar Singh and party MP Ramgopal Yadav – who is incidentally also Mulayam’s cousin brother.

Amar had resigned as general secretary and other posts in the Samajwadi Party citing “health reasons” amid speculation over deepening differences with party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.

But Mulayam had, yesterday, insisted that there are no differences between them.

The whole situation was precipitated after Amar Singh had criticized Mulayam for the party’s humiliating defeat in the Lok Sabha by- election in Firozabad in November, saying the defeat was because of the over confidence of the SP chief and his family.

Yadav’s daughter-in-law Dimple was the SP candidate who lost to Congress nominee Raj Babbar, who was earlier with SP.

As per reports, Ramgopal was angry with Amar for having publicly criticised Mulayam Singh.

However, Ramgopal Singh, while speaking to Zeenews said, “I have no differences with Amar Singh.

But he made it a point to stress that the decision to tie up with Kalyan Singh and fielding of Dimple Yadav was Amar Singh’s decision had he has to take the blame for the fiascos.

“Now he will say that Mulayam was responsible for everything,” Ramgopal said tersely.

Chiding Amar Singh for being getting projected as the most important man in the party after Mulayam, Ramgopal said, “By the time Amar Singh joined the party, Mulayam had already served two times as chief minister…everybody should remember that.”

Responding to the comments made by Ramgopal Yadav, Amar Singh said, “I don’t want to comment on anything he said, he is like an elder brother.”
