I am counting your sins, Jagan tells detractors

Nellore, November 08: Losing his bottled-up patience, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, for the first time after embarking on his Odarpu Yatra in Nellore district 20 days ago, today burst out at leaders in the Congress warning them that if they continued targeting his supporters and tried to send them out of the party in the hope of isolating him, they should be prepared for a tidal wave of people’s rage.

The Kadapa MP, addressing a public meeting at the Gandhi statue centre here today, the last day of his yatra in the district, said that his patience was fast running out and counted the mistakes of his detractors. “When Sishupala committed his 100th mistake, he was killed. The same fate will befall those who are trying to isolate me,” Jagan Mohan Reddy said. He said it pained him to see how those who supported him were targeted and those in the party were subjected to endless torture.

He wanted to know why action was taken against former minister Konda Surekha, APCC general secretary Ambati Rambabu, Nellore DCC president Gopala Reddy, Tirupati Urban Development Authority former chiarman Chevireddy Bhaskara Reddy. “What crime have they committed? They were with my father during his historic padayatra and helped the Congress gain strength,” he said.

He said what shocked him most was watching the bathos to which politics had plunged after his father’s death. “There are forces in my own party which are trying to discredit him. It is jealousy and slimy politics,” he said. Without naming the Anam brothers, he said that though they were beneficiaries of his father, they were now trying to avoid being associated with the Odarpu Yatra.

A surprise at the public meeting was the appearance of Roja who went into political hibernation after the death of Y S Rajasekhar Reddy. In her inimitable style, she praised Jagan Mohan Reddy for his courage to undertake his yatra against odds.
