Hyderabadi hunter Nawab Shafath Ali Khan hired to shoot killer elephant

New Delhi: Government has hired Hyderabadi sharpshooter Nawab Shafath Ali Khan to find and kill an elephant whose rampage through villages has left 15 people dead.

The elephant has crushed four victims in Bihar in March and killed 11 in Jharkhand.

Since a team has failed to tranquilise and capture the elephant during a week-long mission it has been decided to shoot the beast, informed Jharkhand’s chief forest and wildlife conservator LR Singh.

In 2014, Mr. Khan was licensed by Uttar Pradesh to capture or kill a man-eating tiger that was believed to have killed eight people.
