Hyderabad, June 22: The first phase of the Eamcet season ended on Sunday with the announcement of the much-awaited ranks. Vizag lad G Gopala Krishna, who topped the engineering entrance examination, has retained his numero uno position even after the addition of 25 per cent Intermediate marks, while Hyderabadbased students SK Allauddin, C Sivakumar Kashyap and G Sai Sravan Kumar bagged second, third and fourth ranks respectively. B Sravan, who got third rank (OBC category) in the IIT Entrance examination, secured fifth rank in the engineering entrance examination.
In the medical stream, N Raveena, a resident of Kukatpally, came first. In fact, the top five ranks went to Hyderabadis this time. Santosh Swaminathan of Himayat Nagar, K Keerthana from Saroornagar, K Meghana from Nagole and N Ram Kishan from Kothapet came second, third, fourth and fifth respectively.
Counselling for admissions to both engineering and medical streams is all set to begin in the first week of July and the academic session would commence a month later.
After releasing the final rankings, Minister for Technical Education
MV Ramana Rao said the government had requested the All India Council for Technical Education not to give permission for new engineering colleges, as this was delaying the academic session every year.
Furnishing details of the results, the Minister said out of the 30,02646 candidates who have appeared for the exam, 2,41,507 qualified in both Inter and the entrance test.
