HYDERABAD: A youth has been arrested in Malaysia on the charge of overstaying his visa. His father urged the external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj to freed his son.
According to the Times of India report, Shamsher Ahmed was hired as a packer at a salary of 2,000 Malaysian ringgit (34,000 INR) and taken to Malaysia on a visit visa on September 30, 2017.
He was also assured that if the job suited him then the visa would be changed to a job visa.
His father wrote to external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj that his son did not overstay on his own, but was forced to stay back by his employer and urged the Indian high commission in Kuala Lumpur to speak to the Malaysian authorities and help his son come back to India.
Ahmed was arrested at the Kuala Lumpur airport on February 10 for overstaying.
