Hyderabad: Women PS flooded with ‘lookout notices’ to NRI husbands

Hyderabad: Many matrimonial disputes cases on NRI have been registered in women police station. NRI husbands leave their wives for work promising to take their partners later and never come back.

Police has issued many Look Out Circulars (LOCs) at airport to arrest the men if they come to India. Police have also sent notices to men asking them to return but very few have responded to it. There are cases where the men have hardly spent one week with his wife, went abroad and never came back.

Last year police issued 49 LOCs against NRI husbands. Unfortunately only few have been arrested so far. NRIs belonging to US, UK, Australia, Canada and etc, are the one who abandoned their wives, says Inspector K. Ramesh of the women’s police station.

He also added some NRIs directly send divorce notice without coming to India.

In a recent case registered at CCS, police has arrested Saudi returnee offender Abrar Hussain Nizami with the help of immigration officials at RGIA on Monday.

He was arrested for asking dowry, harassing his wife and leaving her in India. The complaint was made by victim’s mother. On Monday he was arrested at airport and was produced in court.
