Hyderabad: The city police nabbed five persons in connection with their involvement in beating and stripping a woman off her clothes on road in front of Lisbon Restobar after she refused to work as prostitute.
The victim is a 26-year-old woman who hailed from AP, worked as a junior artiste in Tollywood and later started working as a dancer at the restobar.
According to reports, the victim was being forced into prostitution by accused identified as Syed Majid Hussain, 30, Errabelli Sandhya, 24, Jekka Sharvani, 20, Shamlet Rekha, 25 and Kodali Vijaya Reddy, 24.
The main accused is on the run while the Punjaguuta police have nabbed the rest, DC reports.
The victim stated in her complaint that the bar staff tried to force her into prostitution and when she refused she was beaten up. She could only seek police help when she recovered from her injuries.
The Panjagutta police have registered a case under IPC Sections 354 (assault or criminal force with intent to outrage her modesty), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation), an official said.
