Hyderabad: Woman kills daughters, says father used to sexually abuse them

Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a woman has allegedly murdered two of her daughters, fearing that one of them was being sexually abused by their father, in Hyderabad.

The mother allegedly slit the throats of her two daughters. While one of the girls was three-year old, the other was seven-year old. The woman was later arrested by the police.

The accused suspected that her husband had allegedly been sexually harassing their elder daughter for the past several months.

The accused mother claimed that she suspected her elder daughter was being sexually abused by her husband, and therefore she killed her children to liberate them from harassment.

According to police, the incident occurred in the Turkman Gate area of west Maradpalli in Secunderabad. The accused was identified as 41-year-old Rajani.

Rajani, a housewife, broke a glass bottle and slit throats of her two daughters, Ashvitha (8) and Tavishka (3), at her residence in Teacher’s Colony in Hyderabad.

“Both girls died on the spot,” an inspector said, adding that she later surrendered before the police.

The accused suspected that her husband, Vinay, had allegedly been sexually harassing their elder daughter for the past several months, he said. Rajani had also confronted her husband over the matter, but he denied the charge.

“The woman became suspicious after seeing that her elder daughter used to get scared on seeing her father. She had a feeling that her husband sexually harassed their elder daughter. She has confessed to killing the two children,” he said.

After preliminary investigation and questioning of the accused’s husband, the officer said there is no evidence as of now to prove the allegations levelled against him. A case was booked under section 302 (murder) of IPC and further probe is on.
