Hyderabad to witness severe heat waves this summer, temperature may break 1966 record

Hyderabad: Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that this year summer is likely to be severe. The temperature might go up to 47 degree Celsius which is 5 degree more than normal.

The temperature in Hyderabad may break the record of the year 1966 which was 45.5 degree Celsius.

IMD has already started recording temperature instead of usual practice of recording it from the second week of April. There is also forecast that there will be extreme heat waves.

In Hyderabad, while addressing a workshop on “Heat waves in TS due to extreme weather”, the Director of IMD, Dr. Y K Reddy told that warm wind and severe sunlight are the quiet killers. Man does not know their effects till his death. Dr. Reddy gave the data of deaths recorded from 2014 to 2018 which is as follows.

He has advised people not to come out in the afternoons. He also told them to avoid liquor, tea and coffee.
