Hyderabad to get 20 new flyovers for Rs 4051 Cr

The Telangana Government on Saturday accorded in principle approval for construction of 20 Flyovers /Junctions at an estimated cost of Rs 4,051 crore, which includes the cost of civil structure and Land Acquisition.

The new flyovers/Junction will come up at KBR Park Entrance Jn; Maharaja Agrasen Jn. (Road No 12 Jn.); Cancer Hospital Junction (Road no. 10 Junction); Film Nagar; Road No 45 Jn; Jubilee Hills Check Post Jn. (Option II); LB Nagar Junction; Bairamalaguda Junction; Kamineni Hospital junction on inner ring road; Chintalakunta Check post junction; Rasoolpura; Uppal; Owaisi Hospital; Biodiversity Park Jn; Ayyappa Society Jn; Rajiv Gandhi Statue Jn; Bahdurpura; Abids GPO to Chaderghat and Malakpet; Cyber Towers Junctions – Elevated Rotary cum Grade separator and Mind Space.

The State Government has also constituted a Project Monitoring Unit for finalising the RFQ, RFP and CA Documents, to conduct the bidding process, evaluate the bids and Project Monitoring. The PMU will seek expert assistance from experienced consultants, whenever required. The four-member PMU will be chaired by GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar as its Chairman.

The State Government has directed that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to take necessary steps to reduce the Land Acquisition cost by negotiating with the land owners who are willing to agree for a TDR on similar lines offered to land owners who surrendered lands to GHMC free of cost for the Master Plan Roads. The GHMC chief has been asked to take further necessary action accordingly and call for tenders.

The nod for 20 flyovers/junctions was given based on the recommendation made by the GHMC Commissioner wherein he stated that based on Comprehensive Transportation Study for HMA-2041(CTS), Strategic Road Development Program is being formulated, as High Priority Project for Greater Hyderabad. This comprises Skyways, Major Corridors, Major Roads, Other Roads and Grade Separators/Flyovers, as multi pronged Strategic Road Development Program, fitting in to the larger Vision to make Hyderabad as a Global Smart City meeting the long term needs of the city.
