Hyderabad: Three held for running IPL betting racket

HYDERABAD: Three persons have been arrested from Mustafanagr in Falaknuma police station limits here for their alleged involvement in a betting racket during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match, the police said on Tuesday.

As per the credible information, one person by name Syed Akram and others are running and accepting cricket betting in an organized manner on 01.04.2019 ongoing cricket match in between Kings XI Vs Delhi Capitals of Indian Premier League-2019 and accepting cricket betting amount from the known and unknown punters directly and indirectly (i.e., over cell phones) at their residence at Sania Hotel of Mustafangar in Falaknuma.

Following a tip-off, the police conducted a raid at about at 8:30 and arrested Akram, Sultan Khan and Mahmood Akhter, said L.Ramesh Nayak, Sub-Inspector of Police, P.S Falaknuma at a press conference.

Three mobile phones, Rs 1,00500 lakh in cash were seized from their possession, the police said.

One accused Parvez is absconding.
