Hyderabad: Air pollution in the city is being dangerous to the health of residents, the hazardous metals, radioactive have been mixed in the air causing severe air pollution.
The National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI) tested the samples which resultant showing many metals in city’s air which are severely toxicated by radioisotopes, or an unstable combination of neutrons and protons which can harm the life of human, animal and plant.
Air is polluting mostly in the industrial areas harming the normal environment. The NGRI team warned that exposure to polluted dust “significantly affects the health of people residing in these areas”.
32 Dust samples from the Industrial areas in a city are collected by NGRI team. They found out heavy metals like copper, zinc, chromium, cobalt, lead, nickel, vanadium, zirconium, caesium, yttrium and hafnium their findings were also published in the international scientific journal Environment Monitoring and Assessment.
Along with the presence of heavy metals in the air the other major reason is damaged of roads due to recent heavy rainfall which results in increasing the levels of dust and high mean metal levels. The metal which is highly present in the city’s dust is zirconium.
The study claimed that “an intensive anthropogenic impact on the accumulation of heavy metals in the road dust attributable mainly to strong influences of vehicular and industrial activity and partly to domestic and natural processes.”
