Hyderabad: A six-year-old boy died after a concrete bench fell on him while playing in Janapriya Utopia, a gated community in Hyderguda here late on Thursday.
The boy identified as Bishanth Sharma alias Dilip Sharma was playing along with other children in the gated community play area, when the mishap occurred. After playing for sometime, Sharma came and sat on one of the two concrete benches which was in a damaged condition and started swinging.
Witnesses said, while swinging, the damaged bench suddenly broke and fell on Sharma. He was trapped under it. The local elders and the children playing at the spot noticed him and rushed to his rescue. He was shifted to the hospital with grievous bleeding injuries. The doctors declared him dead. The residents blamed the association and the maintenance staff for negligence causing the accident. Rajendranagar police have registered a case and are investigating.
