A trader was arrested by the Narsingi police in connection with a rape and murder case.
The arrested accused, Md Idrees, 28year-old, a car mechanic from Hafeezpet in Serilingampally and his friend Mohammed Mateen uddin had allegedly chased a couple on a bike, in their car at Narsingi on February 18 midnight. They had attacked the man with sticks and taken the 22year-old-year-old victim to a desolated place at Gopanpally and raped her.
The male victim, Md Afroz, 25year-old, a pan shop owner who was found grievously injured on the road at Himagirinagar Colony succumed to injuries while undergoing treatment at the Osmania General Hospital.
Initially, the police had started investigating the murder, but later added the rape angle to the probe following the girl’s version.
Police said Afroz and the girl, who is married, were in an illicit relationship and were homecoming from a hospital when the accused attacked them.
Narsingi police Inspector T. Anand Reddy said, “The victim told us what happened. We launched a manhunt and arrested one accused. We are now searching for the second accused Mateen Uddin.”
According to police, the girl was having a dispute with her husband. “She was living alone in her house at Himagirinagar Colony and was having an illicit affair with Afroz. On February 18, her husband came home and assaulted her following a quarrel. The injured girl called Afroz and went to a hospital at night. They were returning from the hospital when the accused started chasing them,” said the police Inspector.
Mr Reddy further added, “As per the victim, the duo attacked Afroz and took the girl to Gopanpally. After the rape, the next day morning, she escaped from their car when they stopped at lbli Chowki for breakfast. She took some money she found in the car and returned to her house in an autorickshaw.”
According to Shamshabad Deputy Commissioner of Police Ramesh Naidu, there were a few missing links in the case, which could only be found after thorough interrogation. “Few facts are still unclear. We need to arrest the second accused for a detailed inquiry.” he said.
On interrogation, the lady said that she was gang-raped and provided police with the registration number of the car used by the c crooks. Idrees confessed to committing the offence.
Police said the arrested accused Md. Idrees, a resident of New Haflzpet was in inebriated state at the time of offence. Police has registered a case of murder, kidnap and rape against him.
