Even as the Centre pressed in National Investigation Agency (NIA) and others well in advance to nab three SIMI activists, who escaped recently from jail, Telangana Home Minister made startling revelations that he just came to know a day back that the two persons killed in encounter were SIMI activists.
Talking to mediapersons here on Monday, the Home Minister admitted that the two killed were SIMI activists as the Intelligence and police top-brass confirmed it. “There is no need of panic as the people are living in peaceful atmosphere in Hyderabad which has no SIMI or terror activities”, he stated. Reddy also said search operations are on by five States to nab three wanted SIMI activists in the districts.
However, the criticism is that he was uninformed by the police on the alleged SIMI links of two persons. In spite of the incident, the Home Minister asserted that there are no SIMI activities in the twin cities. The Government pressed in policemen and Intelligence sleuths to look into the incident to nab the culprits, if any, he maintained.
Apparently, the police officials said to have failed to inform on time the Home Minister about the terror links of the assailants, who were shot dead. At this juncture, the Government held a review meeting on security being provided to VIPs, people’s representatives and top officials. The Government is likely to increase protection for them to ensure their safety. (NSS)
