Hyderabad: RPO to start issuing e-chip based passports soon – Here’re the details

Hyderabad: Regional Passport Offices (RPOs) to start issuing e-chip based passports soon. This type of passport will be issued by selected RPOs in the country. RPO of Hyderabad is one among these passport offices.

According to the report published in The Hans India, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has introduced this concept as it will help in curbing fake passports.

As per the details, e-chip based passports will have added security features. The chip will also have a feature to send an alert message to the passport office.

Mr. E. Vishnuvardhan Reddy, a regional passport officer said that e-chip based passport is introduced in Hyderabad as there is a huge demand for passports in the city.

It may be noted that the applications for new passports can be submitted at Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) at Ameerpet, Tolichowki, Ameerpet and all the Post Office Passport Seva Kendra.
