Hyderabad: The restoration work of Char Kaman around the Gulzar Houz is in progress.
The work has been completed for Machli Kaman and Charminar Kaman while the work for Kaali Kaman is going on.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has re-estimated the costs to Rs 1.48 crore where previously, the civic body had estimated the cost of the second phase at Rs 87 lakh.
This work is part of the government’s attempt to beautify the historic Charminar under the Charminar Pedestrianisation Project.
The authorities of GHMC faced a lot of trouble to remove the hoardings, banners, flexis, and signboards as the shopkeepers occupied the area.
Three gold polishing shop, a cloth dying shop and a watch shop have occupied the space inside the Kaman.
Excluding Saher-e-Batil Kaman, the base and floors of all the three Kamans are occupied by the shopkeepers. No one knows how they had occupied the area.
The general perception for these Kamans, which known as Char Kaman were built after the completion of Charminar in 1592. And these, 60 ft height and 30 ft wide lofty Kaman needs to repair.
