Hyderabad ready for Valentine’s Day

Hyderabad, February 08: Bring up Valentine’s day in a conversation and everyone has an opinion. Some love this holiday of love, others declare it as just another Hallmark holiday. The most verbose are the hate groups. Even though Bajrang Dal who have decided to launch a hate campaign against V-day, Hyderabad’s love birds are set to enjoy this holiday of love, with city’s most popular hangouts plan on keeping their doors open for those who want to revel in the spirit of love.

“We are hosting a pool-side dinner with aphrodisiac food and wine and we are expecting a pretty good turnout,” said Vyshnavi Christopher, a representative of the Marriott group of hotels. “Every year they come up with these threats, and frankly we’re not so worried – the Bajrang Dal is more active in the north anyway.”

And it looks like the Taj group isn’t too worried either. According to a press release, the Taj group of hotels will be hosting lunches, dinners and cocktail parties for in-house guests in all its hotels. And that’s not the main attraction. Both Syn, a lounge bar at Taj Deccan and Ahala, a discotheque at Taj Krishna are hosting special Valentine’s Day events that will go on as planned.

Ask young couples what they think of threats from hate groups and the most common reaction is derision. “I heard last time they got a brother and sister married, they’re pretty nuts,” commented Nirbhay Sen, continuing, “I’m not particularly worried about the Bajrang Dal. I haven’t yet made any plans for Valentine’s Day but when I do, I’m not really going to base my decisions on a bunch of silly threats.”

Monika Hirmer, Nirbhay’s significant other, agrees with him. “I haven’t really heard much about what is going on with the Bajrang Dal but I’m not so worried,” she opined.

Shweta Mehta said, “It’s Valentine’s Day. Of course I want to go out with my boyfriend! And these groups are always making threats, I see no reason to give in to such childishness,” she said.
