Hyderabad: Telangana High Court passed an order that the elephant “Rajani” won’t be available for “Bibi Ka Alam” this year. This order was passed by Justice H. Kodandaram.
According to the report, a petition was filed by Hazrat Ghouse Azam Welfare Society in which Chief Conservatory Forests was also made a party.
In the writ petition, the society contended that the elephant “Rajani” used to be made available for its procession from 1995 to 2016 from Nehru Zoological Park but the Zoo authorities refused to provide the said elephant for Ghouse Azam procession in March 2017.
The officials of the Zoo Park contended that the said elephant is not keeping good health and there is no attendant also to control it.
If it is provided for the procession, the elephant might get out of control in which case, there is a danger to human lives.
In the counter affidavit, the society argued that the same elephant is being provided for “Bonal” procession and it is being denied for Ghouse Azam procession which is discrimination. Society challenged the contention of the govt. in Hyderabad High Court.
Mr Aliuddin Arif who makes arrangements Bibi Ka Alam procession pleaded that this procession has historical and cultural significance for Telangana and requested the court to restore the earlier arrangement. After hearing the arguments, the judge passed an order not to provide elephant for any religious procession.
