Hyderabad: Younger daughter-in-law of British Queen Elizabeth-II and wife of Prince Edward Sophie Helen today visited Gandhi General Hospital in Secunderabad. The Countess of Wessex went round the paediatric ICU ward and several other wards in the hospital.
Countess Sophie Helen is on a visit to India to see the functioning of programs supported by Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust. She is also the Vice-Patron of the Diamond Jubilee Trust. The Countess interacted with hospital authorities and went round several wards and observed pre-term babies in the paediatric ICU and spoke to parents of pre-mature babies.
Following the visit of Countess of Wessex, the official Twitter feed of The Royal Family tweeted, “The oxygen given to babies in the incubator to survive can damage their immature retinal blood vessels. Without detection and treatment it can cause irreversible blindness”.
