Hyderabad is a preferred IT hub

Hyderabad, June 26: Hyderabad is the largest pool of IT manpower and has an ideal industrial climate backed by an investor-friendly environment. The potential to sustain long-term IT growth coupled with proactive initiatives from the Andhra Pradesh Government have transformed Hyderabad into India’s fastest growing IT hub.

The twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad have a large number of IT dealers. The prominent ones are located in Parklane and Sarojini Devi Road. These roads, when combined, boast of more than 350 IT dealers. The place witnesses a footfall of more than a lakh visitors everyday. ”The IT market in Hyderabad is doing well. The city does not have traffic problems. Sometimes, we complain of the price variation among vendors, but there are no major issues within the channel community as far as the infrastructure is concerned,” said Madusudan Reddy of General Computers.

Sujit Surana of Surana Computers in Parklane spoke about a recent issue related to other dealers in the market. He said that Acer had launched two laptops: models 5738 (core 2 duo/3GB/320GB costing Rs 33,500) and 5738z (dual core/3GB/320GB costing Rs 31,500). Some dealers deceived customers by quoting a lower price for model 5738 (with core 2 duo processor), but eventually delivering the cheaper model 5738z (with dual core processor). Though the case was brought to the notice of Acer officials Nanda Kumar and Yashpal, but no action has been taken yet. The dealers are still continuing cheating other buyers, bringing a bad name to the market. This is initiating tension amongst dealers in the market, whose business is getting adversely affected by such cases.

Andhra Pradesh is the chosen destination for IT. The state records for fourth largest revenue from IT exports, amounting to Rs 240 crore, and representing about 24 percent of the total IT/software exports. The State’s initiative towards the development of HI-TEC City in Hyderabad and policy initiatives aimed at bolstering investment, IT development is gradually spreading to other cities within the state. With the emergence of Hyderabad as a prime IT hub, the government has identified the IT sector as one of the most important economic drivers for the state, offering investment opportunities for its channel partners.
