Hyderabad: Policemen with hidden cameras at polling stations

Hyderabad: The polling had started on Thursday morning, and to make sure the smooth and peaceful conduct of elections, the Telangana police had decided to make use of various cameras available with it.

According to the report of Telangana Today, the body worn cameras of the traffic police are being put to use for mounting surveillance at sensitive polling stations in the State.

An official of Rachakonda said: “All the traffic policemen including ASIs and SIs on duty at the polling stations will wear the body worn cameras, mostly hidden.

Cyberabad Special Branch permitted all the personnel to carry mobile phones and record any malpractice, trouble or clashes using the phones. The local police will also have videographers to film any unlawful incident.

To keep a watch on those coming from other places and attempting to create trouble during the polling, police deployed spotters at railway stations, bus stations and other private bus transit points.

They are also being deployed at temporary shelters such as lodges, guest houses and hostels in all the three Commissionerates of Hyderabad, Rachakonda and Cyberabad.
