Hyderabad, October 17: Hyderabad Police today traced a 12-year-old boy within 24 hours of his abduction allegedly by one of his relatives and arrested the relative and three of his friends.
A joint police team of Commissioner’s Task Force and Madannapet Police worked on the clues and rescued the kidnapped boy Mohd Shakir, Hyderabad City Commissioner of Police A K Khan told reporters.
The prime accused, Mohd Toufeeq Ahmed, a native of Bharatpur district in Rajasthan, who is a relative of Shakir along with his three friends abducted the boy yesterday from his residence at Madannapet area here, and demanded a ransom of Rs 5 lakh. He threatened to finish off the boy, if the amount was not paid, the senior police officer said.
“Toufeeq convinced his accomplices that his relative Mohd Abed, (the boy’s father) is having about property worth Rs 2 crore in Haryana and hatched a plan and kidnapped the boy,” Khan said. Working on the available clues, the Police raided a room of the accused at Mylardevpally in Cyberabad area and rescued the boy, Khan said. Hyderabad Police last month arrested four persons including a woman (all former employees of an software firm) on charge of kidnapping a 23-year-old from Chelapura here and had also rescued the youth within 24 hours.
