Hyderabad: No more guns, knives in “Baraat”, violators may land in jail

Hyderabad: After the tragic incident in which a minor died due to injuries caused during sword dancing at a marriage procession in Hyderabad, police imposed a ban on guns and knives in “Baraat”.

According to the news published in TOI, the South Zone Police have launched ‘Anti-Baraat Nuisance Gang’ to put an end to the menace of sword dancing in which knives and revolvers are also used.
Talking on this initiative of the police, DCP of South Zone, Mr. V Satyanarayana told that from Thursday, four special teams of police have started functioning in the Old City of Hyderabad. Each team is headed by a sub-Inspector of Police and consists of 10 constables.

Justifying the initiative taken by police, Mr. Satyanarayana told that this decision was taken to avoid any violent incident during marriage processions.

It may be mentioned that violators will be arrested, swords will be seized and their firearm licenses will be canceled. Lawbreakers will be booked under the Indian Arms Act.
