Telangana IT Minister K Tarakarama Rao today informed the Legislative Council that Hyderabad city would become number one in IT field whether it gets or not ITIR from the Centre.
The minister said the UPA government had given ITIR, but the present NDA government was neglecting to consider the State government’s request. KTR said he had met Union minister Ravishankar five times and brought to his notice about ITIR. The Union minister had said that the matter would be discussed in the cabinet. But so far, no word from the Central government has come, KTR said. Four major IT companies have opened their offices in Hyderabad and Apple has already started manufacturing of phones in the city, KTR said, adding the Apple firm ‘s h office here was only after America. Hyderabad is famous in development of IT field after Bengaluro, he said.
The minister also informed the Council that four lakh people were employed in IT sector. The arrears of Rs 211 crore would soon be released to SC and ST industrialists, KTR said, adding that the government has approved 4,500 units to SCs and STs in this field. He said the government was determined to develop IT industry in other districts too. Auto Park would be set up in Ramagundam and Miryalguda. Kakatiya Mega textiles park would be set up in Warangal, the minister said, adding that granite industry would be established in Siddipet, Khammam and Karimnagar districts besides opening food parks in Khammam, Ranga Reddy, Rajanna Sircilla districts. KTR also informed the Council that the government would initiate development of handloom industry in Sircilla. (NSS)
