Hyderabad: A Nigerian was arrested from Delhi by the city police of Hyderabad for cheating a woman on the pretext of marrying her.
According to the report of Telangana Today, the Hyderabad Cybercrime police arrested a Nigerian from Delhi on Friday. He allegedly trapped the victim on Jeevansathi.com.
The accused was identified as Onainor Alionyem Bright (32), a resident of Tilak Nagar in West Delhi and a native of Detta, Nigeria.
According to the victim, Bright contacted her posing as Basim Karim from the United Kingdom and showed interest in marrying her. He then told her that he is coming to India soon with some gifts and foreign currency.
Later she received fake calls claimed to be customs officials from the Delhi Airport and informed they had detained Karim.
According to the police, the fake customs officials had collected a total of Rs 16.3 lakh from her on the pretext of taxes and other expenditure.
Later the woman realized that she was cheated and approached the police, the police added.
