Hyderabad: NIA conducts searches in 2016 ISIS case

Hyderabad: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday conducted searches at seven premises of suspects in Hyderabad in connection with an ISIS-related case from 2016.

The NIA, who were conducting the searches under Cyberabad’s Pahadi Shareef Police Station at Shaheen Nagar area, seized digital devices and incriminating material related to the 2016 case, where four suspected ISIS men were arrested from Hyderabad.

According to sources, the NIA also investigated 54-year-old Abdul Quddus, his 18-year-old son Abdul Qadeer and his family members. They seized a laptop and cell phones of family members and summoned them to the NIA office in Hyderabad’s Begumpet tomorrow for further investigation.

Abdul Quddus has relatives in Pakistan’s Karachi and used to speak with his relatives there regularly via his son’s phone. Resultantly, the NIA monitored them and suspected terror links.

Quddus assured his compliance with the NIA summon and said, “There are few people who hold a grudge against my son, I think they would have complained about the matter to NIA. They came to our residence and carried out searches; they were having few doubts and asked my son to come to the NIA office. We will surely go to their office.”

No arrests have been made so far. (ANI)
