Hyderabad: Namaz schedule of masjid changed for floor leader’s speech, double standards exposed

Hyderabad: The namaz timings of a masjid in Moghalpura area were changed since the floor leader of the local party was addressing an election gathering near the masjid.

According to the details, when the members of the Masjid committee objected for the change of namaz timings, they were silenced by the party workers saying that the continuity of the speech of the floor leader would be disturbed.

As per the scheduled timings, Isha prayer is offered at 8:45 p.m. every day in the masjid but yesterday, it was scheduled at 10:15 p.m. The worshippers reached the masjid as per the scheduled time but they found the change of timings of the namaz written on the notice board of the masjid.

The worshippers went back home without offering namaz in the masjid. The local residents told that the change of namaz timings could have been legitimized had the floor leader offered namaz in the masjid. In such a case, a large number of his followers could have also offered their prayers.

This only speaks of the double standards of the local party. This party raises slogans against Babri Masjid issue, lynching and cow vigilantes.

On the other hand, the leaders of other parties stop their speeches if they hear the prayer call (Azaan).

Recently, Capt. Uttam Kumar Reddy stopped his speech when he was addressing a gathering of Muslim scholars and intellectuals organized by Jamiatul Ulema Hyderabad. Capt. Reddy did not ask the organizers to change namaz timings.
