Hyderabad: Military college gets DGCA nod as ‘training organisation’ for helicopter

Hyderabasd: The Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME) in Hyderabad has received approval as a `type training organisation’ for a select type of helicopters. The college was accorded the approval by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for the Lama (Cheetah), Alouette (Chetak) and Dhruv helicopters.

Lt Gen Gurmukh Singh, Commandant, MCEME and Colonel Commandant, Corps of EME, received the accreditation certificate from Surender Toppo, Deputy Director (Air Worthiness), DGCA Hyderabad, in a ceremony held at the college, an official release said on Friday.

Over the years, MCEME has grown into a premier training institution of the Indian Army. It is a five-time recipient of Golden Peacock Award for Training, ISO-9001 Certification and four Prime Minister’s Awards for Best Technical Projects, the release said. MCEME is affiliated to Hyderabad-JNTU and New Delhi’s JNU for its M Tech, B Tech and Engineering Diploma programmes.
