Works related to Hyderabad Metro Rail are progressing at a brisk pace. In the first phase Metro train would be run between Mettuguda-Nagol-Uppal stretch and between SR Nagar and Miyanpur.
According to highly placed sources the cost of Metro Rail project is Rs. 14135 crore of which central government has issued Rs 1458 crore while L &T has invested Rs. 12675 crore. State government will provide Rs. 10980 towards land acquisition, public convenience and construction of footpaths.
Metro rail will have a total of 66 stations, covering a distance of total 72 kms. . Metro rail journey will be quite comfortable for the public, greater distance will be covered within short time (less than half of the time required if travelled through road). Metro rail will be 100 metre above the ground and 7 meter wide.
