Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metro Rail commuters will soon have a common card. Govt. of Telangana is seriously considering introducing a common card for the commuters who use metro train, RTC buses and other transport systems.
In a meeting held in Secretariat yesterday under the chairmanship of S K Joshi, Chief Secretary, various officials namely; Mr. Arvind Kumar, Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration, Mr. Jayesh Ranjan, CEO of Dept. of Information Technology, Mr. Sunil Sharma, CEO and Mr. NVS Reddy, MD, Metro Rail, Mr. KV Rao, Chief General Manager, South Central Railway, Mr. Purushotam Naik, Executive Director, TSRTC and representatives of Ola, Uber and other transporters attended the meeting.
Mr. Joshi issued instructions to the concerned officials to explore the possibilities of introducing a common travel card which would be valid for travelling in Metro Train, RTC buses and other transport vehicles.
Chief Secretary further told that in accordance with the recommendations of Govt. of India various steps are necessitated to extend the facility to the city commuters by introducing National Common Mobility Card.
If this card is introduced, the commuters will be eligible to travel by Metro Rail, MMTS, TSRTC buses, autos and other private vehicles like Ola, Uber etc. They need not make payments in cash. Simply, they have to swipe the card for arranging payments.
It is reported that this step is being taken after reviewing the use of card technology universally.
It was decided to finalize the plan after receiving suggestions from concerned departments.
