Hyderabad: In a bizarre incident, a resident of Maithripuram Colony in Karmanghat stole his employer’s Skoda car at Filmnagar on April 25 allegedly to take his girlfriend places. However, the 22-year-old man was arrested in Goa.
Identified as Nelevatla Prashanth Reddy, he used duplicate keys to unlock the vehicle and visited Guntur, Maharashtra and Goa with his girlfriend, said Banjara Hills Inspector K Srinivas as per a report by Telangana Today. As a precautionary measure for not getting traced and nabbed, Reddy switched off the phone. However, lesser did he know that even for switching on his phone to make calls to his friends can land him in trouble.
For these brief intervals when his phone was switched on, the police were able to trace his location to Goa. The Banjara Hills police officials then alerted Goa police, who tracked him down and took him into their custody. The car, worth Rs 16 lakh, was recovered from Reddy’s possession as a team of Banjara Hills police brought him to the city.
