Hyderabad: Man gets 10 years RI in a rape case

Hyderabad: On Friday, a Special Court of LB Nagar convicted a 23-year-old Aku Ashok to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a labourer.

According to police, in September 2013 they have received a complaint from a victim stating that she had been raped.Upon further inquiry, the police came to know that the woman was married to a watchman.

According to the victim’s statement to police, on 18 September 2013 while her husband was out for work, an unknown person entered into her hut and tried to molest her. When she screamed for help, the accused covered her mouth with his hand and threatened her with dire consequences.

He then proceeded to carry out the heinous act. When the husband returned to the hut, he tried to catch the perpetrator who ended up escaping. However, he left his office ID.

As per the contents of the petition, the investigate officer registered a case under section 376 (2) (M) IPC (Criminal Law (Amendment) Act-2013), the police further pursued the case.

Furthermore, the victime was sent to the Gandhi Hospital for Medical examination, where Asst. Professor – Gandhi Medical College examined and treated her.

After a thorough investigation, the police finally arrested the accused on 22 September 2013 who was then identified as Aku Ashok, a Warangal-native working as a trainee pharmacist.

Besides the rigorous 10 year prison sentence, the Special Court Judge also slapped a fine of Rs. 1,000 on Ashok.
