A 55-year-old man commit suicide by hanging himself at a mosque in Falaknuma, minutes before the afternoon (Zohar) prayers, on Tuesday.
On receipt of information from the mosque’s moazzan (in-charge), who found the decease hanging dead while opening the doors for afternoon prayers, police shifted the body to Osmania General Hospital mortuary.
According to Police, Syed Azam Ali who stayed in the Masjid-e-Rahmath Quba in Jahanuma under Falaknuma police station area for the last three years while his wife lived at Amberpet.
Cops said that Ali was a resident of Kacheguda. He had left home three years ago and had been living in the mosque since. The family members of the man told police that he was suffering from psychological problems.
Based on a complaint by Ali’s son Ashfaq Ali a case of suspicious death was registered and the body was handed over to his family after postmortem.
“The reason for the suicide is not yet known. His family is also clueless,” the SI added.
