Hyderabad: Largest center of Urdu language, Rajinder Singh Bedi seminar ends

Hyderabad: The seminar held in connection with the Birth Centenary Celebrations of noted Urdu fiction writer, Rajinder Singh Bedi ended yesterday. This seminar was organized by Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi in collaboration with Telangana State Urdu Academy.

Addressing the valedictory function of the seminar, Dr. S.A. Shukoor told that this seminar highlighted many aspects of the personality and art of Rajinder Singh Bedi. He further told that in Telangana state, 2.24 lakh students are getting education through Urdu medium. This state has 1582 Urdu medium schools. In 82 colleges and in various universities, Urdu is taught. Major Urdu newspapers are published from this city. It also has Urdu TV Channels. Hyderabad has Urdu University named after Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. In this manner, Hyderabad is the largest city which promotes Urdu.
