Hyderabad: Ms. Harichandana, Zonal Commissioner, GHMC stated that it is primary that adolescent and young girls are exposed to support groups to make them conscious of the self and speak out aloud when they face an obstacle, and also progress independently by acquiring skills. Efforts were made for underprivileged girls by GHMC to have various contests within their communities to bring out the latent skills in them.
Speaking on the occassion, Mr.Krishna Yedula, General Secretary of Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) spoke on the importance of observing the ‘Girl Child Day’ to bring in awareness and instill a sense of self worth and importance to the girl child right from a young age and grow to become progressive women contributing to the nation’s growth in all fields including the GDP.
To facilitate young girls in picking up a skill they can bank on in their future life, a workshop was conducted in the art of Paper bag making, Soap Making and other eco friendly products.

About 120 young girls from schools, shelter homes and children of young professionals took part in this colorful celebration.
