Hyderabad: Usually the month of September is considered to be a month of heavy rainfall in Hyderabad. In 2019, the city registered a record-breaking rain of 30cm in a day.
On September 28, 1908, the flood in the Musi river devastated the city. But for the past two years, heavy rainfall is also being recorded in the month of October.
On October 9, 2020, a record-breaking rainfall of 12.3cm has been registered in the city. Similarly, on 13 October an unprecedented 22.4 cm rainfall was recorded in the city leading to flooding due to the breaking of river embankments around the city. Thousands of people were affected due to this flood situation.
Heavy rainfall in the month of October has become a new phenomenon in the City.
The meteorologists and weather experts say that the rainfall in the month of October 2020 broke the record of 130 years.
This year too, Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Medchal, Medak, and Nalgonda witnessed heavy rainfall.
According to the weather forecast, the city and its surrounding districts may get continuous rainfall till October 20
Compared to 2018 and 2019, Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medical and Medak recorded 100% more rainfall this year.
