Hyderabad: Heavy rainfall makes people use boats for transport

Hyderabad: The continuous downpour on Monday made people use boats for transportation, as water from Hyderabad’s Ramanthapur lake entered nearby residential areas. Major parts of the city were affected due to waterlogging.

Hyderabad is already battling with the havoc created by potholes, making it vulnerable for commuting people, which becomes even more severe after each rainfall. The twin city has been put on high alert till Wednesday. The serious flood warning has also been issued for the city.

The temperature on Monday dropped at the evening as the rains intensified in certain locales. Ramanthapur received the highest rainfall, followed by Trimulgherry and Alwal.

Ramanthapur kept in deluge even after the water was drained out from colonies. Water had also flooded several houses in the Old City on Sunday.

Apart from the inner city roads, national highways passing through the city are also full of sinkholes and damaged bitumen.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned the GHMC, of heavy rainfall in the city on Tuesday and Wednesday.
