Hyderabad: Carbide seemed to be used excessively to ripen fruits and vegetables for human consumption which is totally impermissible and forbidden by law.
According to the report published in The New Indian Express, the Telangana HC has directed the State government to take action against any individual, who found to be in possession of carbide.
The HC bench of Chief Justice T B N Radhakrishnan and Justice A Rajasheker Reddy said: “State must ensure that this dangerous chemical is not available to anyone other than those who procure it under a licence for using it in their industries.”
The bench also directed the principal secretary medical, health and family welfare to submit the report regarding the steps taken for the purpose and posted the matter till April 23 for further hearing.
The Chief Justice Radhakrishnan directed the state to recruit the FSOs on an urgent basis and take the issue immediately.
