Hyderabad has most terrorists after J&K

Hyderabad, February 05: The new Hyderabad police commissioner AK Khan may be claiming that the city is not a haven for terrorists but a team comprising officers of the FBI of the US and the CID of various States in India have expressed serious concern over the fact that 21 youths from Hyderabad, working for various terror groups and involved in various offences including bomb blasts, continue to take shelter in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia while remaining in constant touch with their friends and family members here.

The team, comprising an FBI official and those from the CIDs from Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and other places, had a meeting with Andhra Pradesh CID officials to discuss the mechanism to speed up the arrests of the wanted persons.

Besides terrorists, there are several other persons accused of frauds staying in the USA and that also came up for discussion.

Sources told that the visiting team expressed serious concern over terrorist links to Hyderabad.

In fact, they are said to have pointed out that after Jammu & Kashmir, it is Hyderabad which has the maximum number of terrorists who have fled the country.

They are reported to have asked the CID as to what steps were being initiated against such persons, against whom even red corner notices were issued.

“Hyderabad link has always emerged after most of the terror attacks in various parts of the country. Most of the wanted terrorists continue to be in touch with their friends and family members and even send them money regularly.

If a strong mechanism is developed, they can be nabbed just like it was done in the case of HUJI militant Shaik Abdul Khaja,’’ senior officials said.

“The meeting was essentially to discuss the liaison between different agencies,” IG (CID) S Umapathi said.
