Hyderabad: GST and Officials of Commercial Tax Dept. have an eye on the shops which are selling Haleem during Ramadan.
The price of the dish ranges from Rs 150 – Rs 190, and the GST department suspect that, in most of the outlets it is selling evading the tax.
It is a common practice that Haleem traders do not issue bills to customers. It becomes very difficult for the officials to assess the quantum of GST to be collected from such traders.
According to the sources, at least top 80 restaurants with 100’s of their outlets makes a large amount of money without generating bills are identified.
Special teams of GST Officials have been constituted to take stock of the sale of Haleem.
GST officials are also collecting details of whole-sellers who supply the ingredients for Haleem.
