Hyderabad to get 3,000 free Wif-Fi spots

The Inter Departmental Coordination on Saturday decided to set up 3,000 free Wi-Fi network (Convergence Portal) across the Greater Hyderabad limits.

The decision was taken during the Committee’s meeting held at HMDA office in Buddha Purnima Project here. The proposed 3,000 Wi-Fi networks would be primarily used by the Heads of the Departments for better coordination on implementation of different schemes. However, about 200 free Wi-Fi networks would be established to benefit nearly 21,000 people. According to GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy, the process has already been initiated and they would be started soon.

During the meeting, the Committee has discussed the Musi River beautification plan. The officials have been asked to identify government lands on either sides of Musi River. With the help of River Front Development Project, the Musi would be developed as a tourist spot.

The Committee also discussed other issue including allotment of houses for JNNURM beneficiaries and rehabilitation of hawkers.

HMDA Commissioner Chiranjeevulu, Hyderabad Collector Rahul Bojja, Ranga Reddy Collector Raghunandan Rao, Secunderabad Cantonment CEO Sujatha Gupta and other senior officials attended the meeting. (INN)
