Hyderabad: The Nipah virus outbreak in Kerala has kicked panic among citizens after it has taken 10 lives. The citizens in the Telangana State have been asked to not to panic as the state health department is undertaking measures to ensure that the hospitals here are well equipped. Hospitals are being asked to take extra caution as a large number of people travel from other states to Telangana.
Meanwhile, a health ministry official said that as all means of transport can’t be blocked, the state would have to prepare itself to take preventive measures. As a result of this, the patients with cold and fever are being treated with precaution.
“We have directed the general medicine departments regarding the Nipah virus. Patients with fever and cold have been asked to be dealt with separately and N95 masks have been handed over to the staff to ensure that the disease is not spread,” said the superintendent of Osmania Hospital as per a report by Deccan Chronicle.
