Hyderabad: An idol maker in the city was arrested for smuggling ganja by the West Zone Commissioner’s Task Force on Friday after they seized 11.5 kilograms of contraband from his possession.
The accused identified as 32-year-old Tuljaram Singh, is a resident of Upper Dhoolpet and is a Ganesh idol maker, DC reports.
The accused confessed to the crime and said that his earnings from making and selling Ganesha Idols were not enough to feed his family so he started to peddle drugs.
He started purchasing ganja from Paderu Agency area of Visakhapatnam district in Andhra Pradesh and brought it into the city to sell it.
Deputy commissioner P. Radha Kishan Rao reporting on the case said: “On Friday, while he was trying to sell ganja to customers at his house, West Zone Task Force apprehended him and seized the contraband.”
Tuljaram Singh was booked under NDPS Act-1985, and along with the contraband seized, he was handed over to Mangalhat police for further investigation.
